Teaching Plan For Big pig on a dig ◆Background information 1.Students: The students are in Year 4. They are active and curious, active ,aggressive, good at imitating, having strong desire to show their talent and interested in new things. They’ve been learning English for more than 3 years. They can understand some classroom language. They’ve learnt the “There be” sentence structure related to the story. 2.Marterial:A PPT of the story——Big pig on a dig ◆Teaching contents: 1. Vocabularies: pig, big, fat, cat, bunny, funny…… 2. Key structure: There is…….. 3. To know the main idea of the story:Big big on a dig. ◆Teaching aims: ( Students are divided into three levels from poor to top) *1. Language knowledge: The level 1 students can read the rhyming words having the 【i】, 【a】, 【ee】, 【e】sound and to be able to read the story. The level 2 students can read more rhyming words or write more rhyming words and read the story. The level 3 students can read rhyming sentences and read the story. *2. Language skill: Students can understand the story and master the rhyming words. And their cooperation and observation abilities will be developed *3. Emotional aims: To foster Ss’ consciousness of good-cooperation and proper competition. To cultivate their interest and confidence in learning English. *4.Culture aims: To foster students to show respect for different countries' different culture. ◆Teaching procedures: 一. Pre-reading 1. Revision and warming-up: Using “Phonics” and TPR methods to review the 26 letters. (The purpose : To form a better English learning surrounding and arouse their learning interest, paving the way for the following learning.) 2. Presentation: ★1) Leading-in Making three wishes Show students pictures about Aladdin and his wonderful lamp,make three wishes to the lamp,and then lead in the main theme of this class dig the gold . ★2) Prediction about the story Show them the cover of the story“ Big pig on a dig”and have a predication about the story by answering the questions。 1.What can you see in the picture? 2.What’s the pig’s name? 3.What’s the pig doing? 4. Is it a happy ending or sad ending? (The purpose: To develop student’s ability of prediction and stimulate their curiosity in this story.) 3. Show and read the title of the story. Students will read the title together with the teacher. 二.While-reading 1. The first-reading ★1) listen and Watch the story; teacher will act out the story for the first time. ★2) Answer three questions: 1. Is there any gold? 2. Is Big Pig angry? ( The purpose: Students can know about the story by teacher’s vivid gesture, their curiosity can be greatly satisfied , and their interest will be aroused.) 2. The second-reading. ★1) Listen to the story the second time and try to read after me. ★2) Practice Find friends After reading the story for the second times,students are divided into 5 groups and try to classify the words in different groups according to their rhyming rules. (The purpose: According to the rule of “ learning by doing” , have students to do will help them have deeper impression about what they learned.) ★3)Learn the new words together: the whole class will read the words together by the phonics rules and the tips of Teacher’s phonic TPR gestures. (The purpose: Using phonics to learn the rhyming words can help students to master the words much better. After learning the words patterns, they can learn by analogy, and can read the other words that have the same patterns.) 4.The third reading: ★1)Let’s read the story together and try to imitate the roles together! (The purpose: To put what they learn into practice and serve for the purpose of this lesson.) ★2) Production Task time Students are divided into three levels according to their different learning abilities and existing cognitive basis: The first level is the poor students. The second level is the average students. The third level is the top students. ①Task 1: (Level 1)Can you read it? The first level students are asked to read the new learned words, if they can make it, that’s good. ②Task 2:( Level 2): Can you try more ? Half of The second level students are asked to try to read more words patterns that have the same rhyming rules. Task 3:( Level 2): Can you try write more? The other half are asked to write more words patterns. ③Task 4:( level 3)Can you read them? The third level students are asked to read the sentences including the rhyming words. (The purpose: Divide students into different groups and give them different tasks, will help them learn it better and cultivate their confidence and interest in learning English. It also can meet different learning need of all level students. Moreover, Brainstorming will help students expand their knowledge, and also can review their old knowledge. ) 三.Post-reading ★1. What do you learn from the story? No pains, no gains. (It is the moral education. It can deepen the theme of the story.) 四.Summary and homework. 1. Sum up. 2.
