They can read and write, but they can hardly communicate. This is partiallu because of our examination system, and partially of the teaching method. The purpose of studying English is not for the examination but the communication. So we must improve the students’ four skills. But most of the students, now, do better in reading and writng English than in listening and speaking. On the other hand, the teachers like to provide the students with a lot of knowledge----words, phrases, grammar, usages and so on,but they forget to teach the students how to use the English. So we should impover and practice the students’ four skills. I would like to start with analytic method, cause analysis and questionnaires method to analysis the problem. (1) The analytic method: Now, most of the students can do better in reading and writing, but they are not good at listening and speaking, especially speaking. The students can hardly express themselves with their own words. And sometimes they can’t understand what others say. Why the students study like this? The main reasom, I think, is our examination system. The students stuty not for themselves, but for the examination. So we, as teachers, should teach them not only knowledge, but using them. They can speak,can express. (2) Cause analysis: The teacher’s side---that is myself Is it because the teaching step poorly designed? Maybe I emphasize to teach phases, grammar too much. Maybe I don’t teach them how to use and speak English. Maybe I am short of communication with students in English. The students’ side: Is it because they think grammar is more important than speaking? Is it because they don’t like speaking English? Is it because they are not confident enough to speak English? Is it because they dare to make mistakes when they speak English? The ovjective of my project: Help students to practice and improve four skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing. 2. The project hypothesis: Help students understand the important of four skills and master them. 3. The rationale of the project: In order to train students’ four skills and ask students to master and use them, I decide to make a plan. I think, first, help students like English, that is to say, they are interested in English first,it is very important in learning English. Second, help students master the main phrases, grammar and their usages,this is the base of improving listening and speaking. Third, do more exercises,it can make students to master the words,phrases, grammar and so on, and it can also improve students’ reading and writing. Four, communicate with students in English as much as possible, and creat easy classroom atmosphere, stir students to talk desire. It can improve students’ listening and speaking. Four, listen to English songs or wacth English programmes as many as possible. It can also improve students’ listening. 4.
