It was dark. As John was walking on his way home, he suddenly found an ugly old man staring at him.

My name is Laura. At the age of 35, I decided to work on the plane against the will (意愿) of my children. After my first plane ride at the age of five, I felt so excited that I had a dream of earning my wings on the plane. I didn’t earn much, but I loved my job.

For 40 years, people in London have been happy to see parakeets (马尾鹦鹉) in their parks. The shocking green body and long tail have brought a bright color to the parks, which have attracted a lot of people.

Imagine when you are sailing an ocean for the first time, you see a big fish swimming near your ship. You might be scared, and worried about whether it will turn over your ship for a meal. In fact, it is not a fish at all, but a gentle giant whale.
Whales are not fishes but mammals (哺乳动物). Their body temperature stays the same, and does not change with the temperature of their environment. Hugging (拥抱) is very common in western countries. It makes people feel warm and sweet. However, a school in New Hampshire has recently banned (禁止) its pupils from giving each other hugs in the classroom or on the playground.
