Pupils learn to talk about habits using the adverbs of frequency。 They ask and answer questions about one another's habits。 In the task, they provide information about their favourite activities and how often they do them. Then they find out what their group members like doing in their spare time and find out their group’s favourite activity。 单元教学目标 1. Listening: Locate specific information 2. Speaking: Asking questions and replying, Present information, ideas and feelings clearly and coherently。 3. Reading: Predict likely development of a topic, Recognize recurrent patterns in language structure。 Re—read to establish and confirm meaning。 单元重点难点 1. Adverbs (express frequency): ever, always, usually, often, sometimes, never。 2. Auxiliary verbs (seek information): Do you ever tidy your room? 3. Part A&B 教学目标 1. To introduce pupils to the adverbs of frequency. 2. To encourage pupils to talk about habits using the adverbs of frequency。 重点难点 1. How to use the adverbs of frequency. 2. How to talk about habits。 课时安排 Period 1 教学过程 批注与反思 Step 1: Warm—up 1. Sing a song: How my friends have fun Step 2: Lead in and presentation 1. Introduce the vocabulary: look after your pets, go to bed early, tidy your room eat out, get up late, surf the Net。 2. Playing a game using the flash cards: get pupils into pairs。 One pupil from each pair comes out and choose a flash card。 He/ She has to mine the action for his / her partner to guess what it is。 3. When pupils have made the correct guess, write the vocabulary on the board。 4. Get pupils to match the vocabulary with the pictures on the flash cards。 Then go through the vocabulary with them again。 T: Do you ever look after the pets, May? P: No, I don’t. T: Do you ever tidy your room? P: Yes, I do。 5. Introduce the adverbs of frequency. Make use of the table on page 10 of the Pupil's Book。 T: How often do you tidy your room, May? How many times a week? P: I tidy my room every day。 T: May tidies her room every day in a week. She always tidies her room。 P: I eat out four times a week。 T: May eats out four times a week。 She often eats out. 6. Teach the other adverbs of frequency in the same way。 7. Get pupils into pairs。 Tell them to ask and answer questions about each other’s habits. 8. Ask one or two pairs to report the results to the class。 Step 3: Extension Read and put the right adverbs next to the actions. I am Peter. I am ten years old. I go to bed early every evening。 (always) When I get up, I tidy my room。 I go to school five days a week。 I surf the Net after school in the afternoon。 (usually) I look after the pets on Saturday and Sunday。 (sometimes) My mother in busy. We eat out four times a week。 (often) Step 4: Summary T: What did we learn today? Sum-up the adverbs of frequency and how to use the adverbs of frequency to talk about habits。 Step 5: Homework 1. Play a game: Sharp eyes。 T shows the cards quickly, pupils watch and read it fast。 Who can read it faster will get one point。 3. After reviewing the phrases。 T shows a card and ask: T: Do you ever tidy your room? P1: Yes, I usually tidy my room。 T: Do you ever surf the Net? P1: No, I never surf the Net。 4. Change the phrases and make a new dialogue in groups。 (Four pupils in one group。) 5. Ask some groups to show their new dialogue in front of the classroom. 6. P10。 Look at the pictures; make sentences with the given words。 E。g. (1) I look after my pets every day。 = I always look after my pets。 (2) I tidy my room 5 or 6 times a day. = I usually tidy my room。 7。 Ask pupils to make sentences in groups。 Step 4: Development 1. Use “always, usually, often, sometimes, never" to write down some daily activities。 2. Tell your partner what you do and you don't do in your daily life. 3. T asks some pupils to report. Step 5: Summary T: What did we learn today? Sum—up: always, usually, often, sometimes, never。 Step 6: Homework 1. Change the words and make a new dialogue。 (P9) 2. Make sure they are able to match the number of times in a week with each adverb。 Check their understanding by talking about other information provided in Danny’s bubbles. T: When does Jenny play the piano? P: On Wednesday. T: How often does she play the piano? P: Once a week。 / She sometimes plays the piano. T: When does Jenny play the violin? P: She doesn’t play the piano. T: You're right。 She never plays the violin。 3. In pairs, pupils act the children. They ask and answer about their friends’ habits and pastimes。 Go round the class checking their understanding。 4. Check pupils’ answers to Part E。 Step 3: Development。 (1) Do a survey. In groups, find out what your friends like doing in their spare time。 Then find out your groups favourite activities。 Step 4: Summary. T: What did we learn today? Tell pupils that they are going to read some descriptions about different people。 Go through the example in the picture with them first. T: Look at the description in the picture. There are four sentences。 Which one is different from the others? P: He sometimes waters his plants。 T: That's right. This sentence tells us that Peter looks after his plants。 It has nothing to do with cooking or eating。 But the other three sentences tell us that Peter likes cooking and he likes to eat at home. 2. Ask pupils to read silently the other descriptions. Then they cross out the sentences that do not fit. 3. Go round the class checking their understanding. 4. Check pupils’ answers to Part F。 Step 4: Development。 1. Finish “Reading and writing" P5—P6. 2. Check the answers. Step 5: Homework. 1. Grammar P5—6. 2.
