Lead in: show a basketball (Then talk about school things) Step2 1.Present the words(sports things). (show pictures about sports things one by one.) T: What’s this in English? S1:It’s a basketball. T: How do you spell it? S1: B-A-S-K-E-T-B-A-L-L.(help Ss spell it) T: Yes, it’s a basketball. Now follow me to read. (Show the other sports things in the same way.) (Sports things: tennis ball, ping-pong ball, soccer ball, volleyball, basketball, baseball bat) Then read the words again and again. 2. Present the new sentence patterns: (Point to a student who has a pen) T: What’s this in English? S2: It’s a pen. T: How do you spell it? S2: P-E-N. T: Do you have a pen? S2: Yes, I have./No, I don’t. (Nod your head yes or no, and help Ss answer) Then ask more students to answer the questions. Step3 Practice: 1. Finish 1a. Match the words with the things in the picture. Then check the answers. (1-a, 2-f, 3-c, 4-e, 5-d, 6-b) 2. Listening practice. Finish 1b/2a/2b. Then check the answers. (1b. Ping-pong bat, ping-pong ball. 2a. 3412 2b. 3214) Step 4 Oral practice: 1. Read the conversations in 1a. 2. Look at the picture in 1a and practice the conversation with each other in pairs. Ex:A:What’s this in English? B: It’s a/an.... A: Do you have.....? T: Does she have a tennis racket? (Point to the second student) Ss: No, she doesn’t. 2. Practice the drill. T: Practice the sentence in four.The first two students must use the drill “Do you have a ....?” The other two students ask the answer according to their conversations and use the drill “Does he/ she have a ....?” Step3 Practice: 1. Listening. Finish 2a/2b 2. Role-play in 2d. Step 4 Grammar note 1.Write these sentences on the board: Do you have a ping-pong ball? I have a ping-pong ball. You have a ping-pong ball.
