My grandma whom we all called Nanny was a solid, first-generation, Italian immigrant. She came to this country with her family on a tiny ship during World War I when she was only 8 years old. They never had much money but were rich in love.

Our Courses
Regardless of your choice of course, you’ll develop your language ability both quickly and effectively.
Our Standard Course guarantees a significant increase in your confidence in a foreign language, with focused teaching in all 4 skill areas---speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Our Intensive Course builds on our Standard Course, with 10 additional lessons per week, guaranteeing the fastest possible language learning.
Evaluation
Students are placed into classes according to their current language skills. The majority of them take on online language test before starting their programme. However, if this is not available, students sit the exam on the first Monday of their course.
Learning materials are provided to students throughout their course, and there will never be more than 15 participants in each class.
Meals/Allergies(过敏)/Special Dietary Requirements
Students are provided with breakfast, dinner and either a cooked or packed lunch (which consists of a sandwich, a drink and a dessert). Snacks outside of mealtimes may be purchased by the student individually.
We ask that you let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements as well as information about any medicines you take. Depending on the type of allergies and/ or dietary requirements, an extra charge may be made for providing special food.

At the risk of sounding lazy, I'll just be honest: I used to hate making my bed. Why should I bother? I'm just going to get right back into it later, and no one except my immediate family will see it.
But something I read last week in Charles Duhigg's “The Power of Habit” changed my mind. According to Duhigg, making your bed every morning is connected with better productivity and sticking to a budget. It has also been suggested that making your bed promotes happiness. My interest was attracted.
According to Duhigg, making your bed is something called a keystone habit. Changing or forming keystone habits helps you develop other good habits.
I figured that I was the perfect test case for the Make Your Bed to Achieve Happiness Theory and that it was worth a try. So far I've made my bed for 10 days in a row. And here's what I've noticed: Making my bed inspires my children to make their beds, clean their rooms and do the laundry and the dishes.
Karen Miller, author of “Hand Wash Cold”, explains: “The state of your bed is the state of your head.” I think she is on to something. When I leave my bed in a heap (一堆), I leave the bedroom feeling defeated by my bed, my alarm clock, and my general sleepy mood. I'm reluctant to get the day started.
But when I look at my freshly made bed, I have to admit it: I smile a little. I feel just a bit more motivated. Productive, even. But sticking to a budget? That part is still up for debate. I just bought some beautiful pillows for my freshly made bed. I can't leave that beautiful bed half-dressed, can I?

The eventual extinction of the large prehistoric animals has always attracted researchers. However, it is impossible to recreate most of them, either because the fossilized(变成化石的) DNA is too old (dinosaur)or just not available. But the one exception may be the woolly mammoth, which lived about 8,000 years ago.
Thanks to their relatively recent disappearance and the ice-cold weather they lived in, plenty of well-preserved specimens (标本) have been discovered. In the last few years, scientists have been able to piece together the mammal’s genetic code(遗传密码) using some frozen hair and also recreate its blood, with the help of DNA that was found preserved in the bone. Now, a group of Japanese scientists want to take it one step further and bring the mammoth back to life.
The team of scientists plan to start with a journey to Siberia this summer, to seek out the DNA from a flash-frozen specimen of the mammal. In case they are unable to find one, they will use the tissue of a preserved mammoth that currently sits in a Russian laboratory.
The scientists will join the mammoth’s DNA with an empty egg of the mammoth’s closest present-day relative --- the elephant. Then, by using an electric current, they will trick the egg into growing and dividing. After a few days, the researchers will put it inside a female elephant, which will act as a surrogate mother(代孕母亲).
Then begins the waiting game --- for it takes about 600 days, for an elephant or in this case a woolly mammoth baby, to fully develop --- that is, if everything goes well and the surrogate mother doesn’t reject the egg.
If luckily we do get a baby mammoth, scientists are not sure if they would produce more, but they are hoping they will be able to study it and answer the age-old question of how they became extinct --- were they hunted down by humans of did they die because of climate change?
Will the woolly mammoth come back to life? We have to wait and see.
