However, the 19yearold international economics and trade student was certain about one thing: She wanted to participate in animal welfare efforts. “I'm always a nature and animal lover.” she said. She joined the environmental protection association at her school. Now being president of a group of 25, she leads its efforts to help stray(流浪) cats and dogs by raising money to buy them food and collecting old clothes to make them homes. However, sometimes the association raises doubts. Some students have questioned whether helping stray animals breaks the laws of nature. “We tried to resolve the controversy,” Yang said. “For wild animals, the best way to protect them is to preserve their environment and their natural habitat, and to let them live their own way. However, for animals that depend heavily on humans, such as dogs and cats, the proper way to treat them is to respect them and take care of them.” Besides, if not accommodated properly, stray animals can bring threats to public health, as they are the main cause of rabies(狂犬病) in cities. “Now, many young people in China have agreed upon the need to strike a balance between humans and nature. The only problem is how,” said Yang. Yang and her fellow volunteers are cautious about what they do to help. For instance, sometimes people feed stray cats human food such as chocolate. But Yang and her friends point that such food can be dangerous to stray cats. Yang also cooperates with NonGovernmental Organizations to spread animal protection knowledge. One of their recent exhibits was about animals in the entertainment industry, “We are still figuring out the best way to protect animals, but simple deeds such as saying no to animal performances can prevent wildlife from being captured and tamed. Step by step, we'll eventually reach our goal,” she said. 1.Why did Yang Yi join the environmental protection association? The course is one of the most popular in the prison. Prisoners have to earn the right to attend the course and they work hard to get in. One reason why the course is so popular is that many prisoners find it easier to connect with animals than with people, because animals don't judge them. They trust animals in ways they don't with humans. Yet, they hold a misunderstanding of how animals treat one another. Many admit that their own “animal behavior” is what got them into trouble in the first place. I teach that though there is competition and aggression in the animal kingdom, there is also a lot of cooperation(合作)and sympathy. Many of the students want to build healthy relationships, and they find that the class helps them. I use examples of the social behavior of groupliving animals such as wolves as a model for developing and maintaining(维持)friendships among people who must work together for their own good and also for the good of the group. It's clear that science inspires the students here and it also gives them hope. I know some students have gone back into education after their being set free while others have gone to work for humane(人道)societies or contributed time and money to conservation organizations. One went on to receive a master's degree in nature writing. Science and humane education help the prisoners connect with values that they otherwise would not have done. It opens the door to understanding, trust, cooperation and hope. There's a large population of people to whom science could mean a lot, if only they could have access to it. The class helps me, too. I get as much out of it as the students and it has made me a better teacher. 5.The author's course is welcomed by the prisoners because ________. A.they consider animals their best friends B.they are curious about animal kingdom C.they feel it easier to get along with animals D.they are more familiar with animal behavior 答案:C 细节理解题。 One reason why the course is so popular is that many prisoners find it easier to connect with animals than with people可知犯人们喜欢作者的课程因为他们发现和动物交流更容易。 C。 6.The author used wolves as an example to ________. A.provide the prisoners with more knowledge B.explain the cruel side of groupliving animals C.help the prisoners realize the importance of teamwork D.inform the prisoners that animals get people into trouble 答案:C 细节理解题。 I use examples of the social behavior of groupliving animals such as wolves as a model for developing and maintaining(维持)friendships among people who must work together for their own good and also for the good of the group可知作者把狼作为范例是想帮助囚犯意识到团队工作中合作的重要性。 C。 7.We can infer from the text that some prisoners ________. A.have turned over a new leaf B.are required to attend the course C.are willing to learn working skills D.prefer humane education to science 答案:A 判断推理题。 I know some students have gone back into education after their being set free while others have gone to work for humane(人道)societies or contributed time and money to conservation organizations中的关键词set free释放,可推断一些囚犯的生活翻开了新的一页。 故选A。 Ⅱ. (2015·东北三省四市二模) You often find somebody who works around you complaining(抱怨) all the time, don't you? ___1__ About 70% of Americans say being around nonstop complainers sometimes has a bad influence on them. Luckily, here are 4 tips to help form positive patterns. 1.Selfawareness When a negative(消极的) thought pops into your mind, immediately correct it. Instead of telling yourself “That's a nice shirt, but I can't afford it,” change the message to “That will look great with my black pants when I can afford it.” ___2__ Of course everyone complains sometimes. But the less frequently you complain, the better you will feel. 2.Distance yourself ___3__ Excuse yourself and go somewhere quiet, somewhere outdoors in the fresh air. Think of something pleasant before returning. You have to take this seriously because negative people can and will pull you into the quicksand. 3.Don't try to change complainers If you find yourself trapped in a group of complainers in a meeting or at a social event, simply choose silence. Let their words bounce off you while you think of something else. Attempting to stop the complaining can make you a target. ___4__ If someone says, “I hate Mondays; weekends are too short,” try to think, “I'm glad I rested up over the weekend, so I'm ready to make some improvement on that big project.” 4.___5__ When someone is shouting at you angrily, throw the responsibility back at them by asking, “So what do you intend to do about it?” In most cases, complainers don't really want a solution(解决方法). They just want to speak them out. If you make them aware that they themselves have to find the solutions, they will leave you alone and find someone else to complain to. If so, you will be happy. A.Find solutions B.Change responsibility C.You have got a lot of company. D.By doing this, it will lead to positive behaviors. E.But you can redirect the discussion in your own mind. F.Whenever possible, escape from negative conversations. G.You will never know what they are going to talk about. 1.C 由前一句“You often find somebody who works around you complaining all the time”和后一句“About 70% of Americans say...” 2.D 根据上文change the message to “That will look great with my black pants when I can afford it”可知,这种想法会帮助我们建立积极的态度。 3.F 从标题句Distance yourself和本段最后“because negative people can and will pull you into the quicksand”,可知要远离消极的人,故选F。 4.E 根据本段最后一句的举例“ I'm glad I rested up over the weekend, so I'm ready to...” 5.B 根据段落内容和关键句“throw the responsibility back at them by”可知答案选B。 Ⅲ. (2015·甘肃省部分普通高中第一次联考) In China, people and giant pandas had been living together for thousands of years. But China's human population has been great growing. More population means more land is needed for farming. It also mean more forests are cut for wood to build and heat houses. Loss of habitat in lowland areas has forced pandas live only in the mountains. The most damaged result of development has been that it has divided the panda's habitat into little islands of forest. Today, many panda are isolated in these small sections of forest, because of they will cross into areas which people live. The result is that the giant pandas can connect with one another to mate and have babies. Besides, to our relief, there is still some good news that people are trying to help the giant pandas by creating protected areas. In China, people and giant pandas been living together for thousands of years. (where引导定语从句,先行词是village,且在从句中作地点状语) 2.I grew up in the small village which I was born in.(which引导定语从句,先行词是village, 且在从句中作in的宾语) 3.I grew up where I was born.(where引导地点状语从句,且在从句中作地点状语) 9.
