People in certain strata of American society seem definitely to hunger after ugly things; while in other less Christian strata, people seem to long for things beautiful. 11. These ugly designs, in some way that people cannot understand, satisfy the hidden and unintelligible demands of this type of mind. 12. The place where this psychological attitude is found is the United States.
