d ents u p to 60%compared to trad itional printed textbooks,the company ad d ed.McGraw Hill d id nt respond to a requ est for comment,bu t its CEO David Levin told the Financial Times in Au gu st that in higher ed u cation,the era of the printed textbook is now over.I)The textbook ind u stry insists the online systems represent a better d eal for stu d ents.These d igital prod u cts arent ju st mechanisms for stu d ents to su bmit homework,they offer all kind s of featu res,David And erson,the execu tive d irector of higher ed u cation with the Association of American Pu blishers,told Bu textbook,ju st an access cod e to tu rn in homework.This year she said she spent$900 on access cod es to books and programs.Thats two months of rent,she said.You cant sell any of it back.With a trad itional textbook you can sell it for$30-$50 and that helps to pay for you r new semesters books.With an access cod e,you re ou t of that money.L)Benjamin Wolverton,a 19-year-old stu d ent at the University of S ou th Carolina,told Bu zzFeed News that its rid icu lou s that after paying tens of thou sand s in tu ition we have to pay for all these access cod es to d o ou r homework.Many of the access cod es hes pu rchased have been requ ired simply to complete homework or qu izzes.Often its only 10%of you r grad e in class.he said.You re paying so mu ch money for something that hard ly
