In the goods markets, frozen concentrate orange juice futures (期货) have increased 25% — just in the past month. “People understand that orange juice is a great source of vitamin C and clearly vitamin C strengthens your immune system,” said Andrew Meadows, director of communications at Florida Citrus Mutual, a growers’ trade group. “We’re now in a time when people want to have a strong immune system. I think that’s what’s happening.” That’s even though there’s no evidence that vitamin C is effective against the coronavirus. But industry officials say that people looking to increase their vitamin C intake have been increasing OJ sales. Sales jumped nearly 10% in the four weeks that ended March 14 compared with a year earlier, according to Nielsen data provided by the Florida Department of Citrus (柑橘). Frozen OJ sales increased 27%. That's a big turnaround from the previous report for February, which showed overall OJ sales down 2% and frozen juice down 1.3%. And demand is more than previous supply, said Marisa Zansler, director of economic and market research at the Florida Department of Citrus. Meadows emphasized that the industry has not been marketing around the coronavirus. “We’re not trying to benefit on this,” he said. “We wouldn’t do that. ... But it is beneficial to us, it is heartening to us that people still understand that orange juice is a great source of vitamin C.” The good news for growers comes at a challenging time for the citrus industry. Florida growers have been battling citrus greening, and other plant diseases for years. And orange juice has been squeezed by competition from sports and energy drinks, bottled water and exotic juice blends, Meadows said. 24.What idea does Andrew Meadows try to express? A. Orange juice is a great source of vitamin C. B. Vitamin C is effective against the coronavirus. C. Why orange juice is popular during coronavirus time. D. Vitamin C can strengthen people’s immune systems greatly. 25.Why does the author use these figures in Paragraph 5? A. To make a summary. B. To explain the reasons. C. To make a comparison. D. To illustrate the process. 26. What does the underlined word “heartening” in Paragraph 7 refer to? A. Encouraging. B. Surprising. C. Amazing. D. Interesting. 27.What’s the author’s attitude in this text? A. Positive. B. Neutral. C. Worried. D Negative. C Is there a magic ending period when children become responsible for their own actions? Is there a wonderful moment when parents can become spectators (旁观者) in the lives of their children and shrug, “It’s their life,” and feel nothing? When I was in my twenties, I stood in a hospital corridor waiting for doctors to put a few stitches in my son’s head. I was asked, “When do you stop worrying?” A nurse said, “When they get out of the accident stage.” My mother just smiled and said nothing. When I was in my thirties, I sat on a little chair in a classroom and heard how one of my children talked nonstop, interrupted the class, and was headed for a career making license plates. As if to read my mind, a teacher said, “Don’t worry. They all go through this stage, and then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy them.” My mother listened and said nothing. When I was in my forties, I spent a lifetime waiting for the phone to ring and the cars to come home, the front door to open. My friends said that when my kids got married I could stop worrying and lead my own life. I wanted to believe that, but I was haunted by my mother’s wan (淡淡的) smile and her occasional words, “You look pale. Are you all right? Call me the minute you get home.” Can it be that parents are sentenced to a lifetime of worry? Is concern for one another handed down like a torch to light the trail of human weakness and the fears of the unknown? Is concern a curse? Or is it a virtue that lifts us to the highest form of life? One of my children became quite sensitive recently, saying to me, “Where were you? I’ve been calling for three days, and no one answered. I was worried!” I smiled a wan smile. 28. What can we know about the author’s mother from the passage? A. She has a good understanding of the author. B. She is not concerned about the author. C. She tries to give the author some encouragement. D. She seems to laugh at the author. 29. What did the author do in her forties? A. She would like her children to see her often. B. She couldn’t stop worrying about her children. C. She was less concerned about her children. D. She became more patient with her children. 30. Why did the author smile a wan smile at the end of the passage? A. She wanted to learn from her mother. B. She got a kind of satisfaction from her child’s concern. C. She succeeded in tricking her children. D. She stopped worrying about her children at last. 31. The main purpose of the passage is to tell us that ___________. A. parents show more concern for their children B. parents’ love for their children is selfless C. the concern between parents and children is natural D. parents will worry about their children all their lives D People often like robots better the more they look like real people, past studies have shown. But only up to a point. Figures that look almost human can make people feel uneasy. Fabian Grabenhorst, a neuroscientist at the University of Cambridge, led the new study to uncover what’s behind that feeling. He and his colleagues took functional MRI scans of 21 volunteers during two activities. In each activity, participants viewed pictures of people and humanoid robots. The robots ranged from very machine-like to nearly human. Some of the photos of people were edited to slightly change their features. These were called “artificial humans.” They had a grayish skin tone and unnaturally smooth skin. They were meant to represent super realistic-looking robots. In the first activity, participants rated each picture on likability and how human-like the figures appeared. Next, participants chose between pairs of these pictures, based on which subject they would rather receive a gift from. As in past studies, participants generally rated more human-like candidates as more likable, but this trend broke down for artificial humans. Despite being the most human-like of the unnatural options, these were rated the least likable. A similar gap emerged in participants’ judgments about which figures were more trustworthy gift-givers. Those reactions mirrored activity in a part of the brain involved in making social decisions, called VMPFC. The VMPFC was more active when participants viewed more human-like pictures. But activity went downwards in response to artificial humans. And that drop was largest in people who reported the strongest dislike for artificial humans. Those findings suggest that this region of the brain supports the uneasy feeling, the researchers say. If the VMPFC is responsible for generating these heebie-jeebies(忐忑不安), that may be good news for android(人形机器人) designers. Social experiences can change how the VMPFC reacts, says Grabenhorst. So positive interactions with a robot that seemed scary at first may make it seem less bothersome over time. 32. What did the researchers ask the participants to do first? A. Edit photos of people. B. Share their preference. C. Choose the figures they trust. D. Rate pictures on likability. 33. Which of the following was rated least likable by the participants? A. Artificial humans. B. Common robots. C. Pictures of humans. D. Machine-like robots. 34. What did the Fabian’s team find? A. The more robots look like humans, the more likable they are. B. Interactions with terrifying robots help handle the uneasiness. C. The VMPFC may explain people’s uneasiness for artificial humans. D. Participants’ brains became active when they viewed human-like robots. 35. In which section of a newspaper may this text appear? A. Health. B. Science. C. Education. D. Environment. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Perhaps you have heard the expression “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. So when you want to do business in France, you have to get to know French culture, make marketing plans, and run your business by local laws. 36 The French take great pride in their language, so anyone who does not speak it may run the risk of being disrespected by his French colleagues or business partners. Also, another reason why learning French is important is that it is a great way to show every possible French business partner that you care and respect their country’s culture and language. The first thing that you should do when meeting someone new is to shake his hand firmly and always look at the person in the eye. In social meetings with friends, kissing is common. Use first names only after being invited to. 37 The French will sometimes introduce themselves using their surname first, followed by their first name. Dress well. 38 Your business clothing is a reflection of your success and social status. Always try to be tasteful and stylish. Women are advised to dress simply but elegantly. Wearing make-up is practiced widely by businesswomen. The French are passionate about food, so lunches are common in doing business in France, which usually consist of an appetizer, main meal with wine, cheese, dessert and coffee, and normally take up to two hours. 39 Do not begin eating until the host says “bon appetite”. Pass dishes to the left, keep wrists above the table and try to eat everything on the plate. 40 This may suggest that you find the food tasteless. If eating in a restaurant, the person who invites always pays. A. Remember to be as polite as possible. B. This is a time for relationship building. C. Use Monsieur or Madame before the surname. D. Be careful with adding salt, pepper or sauces to your food. E. Make an appointment with your business partner in advance. F. The French draw information about people based on their appearance. G. Language should be the focus of anyone planning to do business in France. 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分45分) 第一节 (共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从41-60题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。 We may look at the world around us, but somehow we manage not to see it until whatever we’ve become accustomed to suddenly disappears. 41 , for example, the neatly-dressed woman I 42 to see on my way to work each morning.
